Darrin Regier Obituary Hutchinson KS, Death – In Memory Of Darrin Regier
Darrin Lane Regier, of Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away on October 27, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on May 18, 1965, in Hutchinson to Darrel and Judith Parks Regier, he built a life centred on family, service and bringing happiness to others. His passing leaves behind loved ones and many people whose lives were touched by his warmth, humour and generosity.
Darrin graduated from Buhler High School and later took classes at Sam Houston University in Huntsville, Texas. Throughout his life, he showed a special interest in creating opportunities for young people and encouraging them to share their talents. In the 1990s, he founded the Kansas Wiz Kids, a youth competitive travelling team that gave young participants a chance to develop their abilities and enjoy performing.
His creativity eventually led him into the mascot business, where he created the beloved Kirby and Dazzler Show. Through laughter, entertainment and memorable performances, Darrin brought smiles to countless people. He also devoted 32 years to working with the YMCA, where his commitment to helping others and making a positive difference became an important part of his life’s work.
Away from his professional activities, Darrin enjoyed taking cruises, meeting new people and appreciating the small moments that made each journey special. Yet his greatest love was always his family. He cherished his daughter, grandchildren and relatives, and the obituary remembers him for the kindness, humour and generosity he shared with those closest to him. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Mateo Sanchez, and is survived by his daughter, Caley Sanchez, his parents, Darrel and Judith, and his brother, Rick, along with grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a great-niece.
Darrin’s memory will live on through the many young people he encouraged, the audiences he entertained, the colleagues he worked alongside and, above all, the family he treasured. A visitation and celebration of life are scheduled for November 7, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory in Hutchinson, with the family requesting casual dress in keeping with how Darrin lived. Those wishing to honour his memory may consider supporting the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City or the Greater Wichita YMCA’s McPherson branch.
